Not so Quick Paint

Saturday we had a quick paint event as part of the Between the Bluffs Plein Air event

I chose a black locust tree, because of its bark, with a Virginia Creeper vine that was turning red.

One week earlier

I was using acrylic on a wood panel. It fit into an architectural frame I’d found at the ReStore for $2.

It was fun, but the paint was slow to dry, so I stopped before the finish line.

On site

Then I took it home to add finish touches, more layers on the bark and brighter colors on the vine.

Finished

I call it Virginia Creeping. It will soon be at the River City Gallery in LaCrosse.

It was a fun experiment, but next time I’ll use quicker paint.

I love trees, can you tell?
