The Letter Bee

I’ve been asked to participate in a show with the theme of Resonance: What idea struck with a resonance that endures. Cal DeWitt, biologist and environmentalist referenced this quote in a lecture on the spirituality of John Muir. This reference to the Belgic Confession is a statement of two books theology. My artwork appears under Continue reading

Painting in the rain

It was raining for the Plein Air event on Saturday, so I brought a canopy. That helped but the added moisture gave the watercolors a life of their own. The result was a soft effect. Since the water did not dry as normal it was hard to know what would happen. This is at Red Continue reading

We’ve lived here long enough to be in our second Spring. Each of these flowers are a wonder. What adaption explains the amount of lavender color, following so much white in the spring. Of course these are plants with signs of human impact. We are made of dirt ourselves, Adam means as much. So of Continue reading

Wandering, I saw this

I see it as a celebration: “Fall leaves fall!” This installation celebrates the symmetry of drawing from the soil, Continue reading

Quick Plein Air

I joined the Between the Bluffs Plein Air event, which included a quick paint (two hours) from the top of Grandad’s Bluff. From this vista rain could be seen to our West and North, but we were ok up to a point. I selected a site and worked on this view, looking South and three Continue reading
