Rainier

This is the third installment of Fun with Bob. The reference photo is Mt. Rainier over Lake Washington. The snow on the mountain is part of the overall wash of blue, it only looks white by contrast. The mist was worth the workshop. I have tried and failed before. I’m happy with the result. Continue reading

I’m joining Bob Witte on Tuesdays at Studio Gallery 1311 for collective painting. Paint often, listen to others and try things. There is nothing gained by timidity. You only lose paper at the worst. Continue reading

Waiting for Amtrak

I was struck by the leading lines in this photo. So I tried it. I hadn’t noticed a distant bluff line. While painting a freight train kept going forward and backward. I needed to add ink lines to clarify the image Come and see if it makes the cut. Continue reading

Many shades of green

My daughter and I went to paint at Myrick Park in La Crosse. At this time of year the marsh has abundant algae and the bluffs are very green. The challenge is to have grades and distinctions in the greens. In the past there have been some sad stories about green from the tube. I Continue reading
